Cold night and I am spending my time reading a book while I enjoy a glass of red wine. Suddenly I hear someone to knock my door...who is it so late? I open the door... and I look right and then left and then up...nothing. Hmmm weird... " Hey you...down here...". I look down and what I see? A tiny cute owl! " I am not alone, I have my friends too. Can we enter?"
Δροσερο βραδακι και διαβαζω ένα βιβλίο απολαμβάνοντας ένα ποτηρι αγαπημένο κόκκινο κρασι. Και ξαφνικά ακούω χτυπημα στην πορτα....μα ποιος είναι τέτοια ώρα; Ανοιγω... κοιτάω δεξιά, κοιτάω αριστερά, κοιτάζω ψηλα...τίποτα. Χμμ... περιεργο... "ε ψιτ...εδω κάτω...". Σκύβω και τι να δω; Μία μικρή γλυκούλα κουκουβάγια! "δεν είμαι μόνη μου, έχω και παρέα! Να περάσουμε;"
And just before I say anything, here come the rest of them! So small, so cute, with beautiful colors and amazing eyes! They enter my home, they sit on my chair and they relax! And I just keep looking them! "Poppy will join us in a while. She will prepare us with lace and beads and ribbons in order to be more beautiful and be ready to hang us". Ok..got it! I will always have with them with me! Perfect! Because I adore owls and I love uncommon necklaces and jewels, especially if they are handmade and ceramic!
Και πριν προλάβω να μιλήσω, να σου και οι υπόλοιπες! Μικρές, γλυκούλες, με όμορφα χρώματα και υπέροχα μάτια! Μπαίνουν σπίτι μου, κάθονται στην πολυθρόνα μου και χουχουλιάζουν! Και εγω απλά τις χαζεύω! " Η Ποπη θα ερθει σε λίγο. Θα μας ετοιμάσει με δαντέλες και χαντρούλες και κορδόνια και θα γίνουμε ακόμα πιο όμορφες και έτοιμες για να μας κρεμάσεις". Εντάξει...κατάλαβα! Θα τις έχω μαζι μου δηλαδή! Τέλεια! Γιατί και αγαπώ κουκουβάγιες και λατρέυω τα ασυνήθιστα κολιε και κοσμηματάκια, ειδικά τα άκρως χειροποιητα και αν ειναι και κεραμικα ακομα περισσότερο!
Hi! My name is Poppie I'm a graphic designer and I'm the crafter behind Hoot Handcrafts. At Hoot you can find hand sculpted and painted owls, each one unique with their own personality and their own little story, that can accompany you at tea time, reading, playing music or just daydreaming.
In english "hoot" is the whistling sound that the owls make when they communicate. When I made my first owl "Henrietta" and painted her eyes I thought see was looking at me as if she wanted to say something, so that is how I came up with the name hoot.
The names, colours and designs I use for my owls are inspired from my favourite characters from books, movies,songs or even real people that touch my heart for some reason.
I create things with my hands as long as I can remember myself. From painting to sculpting or even sewing, they are all ways to express my feelings, my ideas my being in general. And also it is very therapeutic for my mind. The moment I enter my workshop I completely forget everything else. It's me, my dog Sandy and the owls.
